No Act of Kindness...is ever wasted!

Below is a message from your ASB that will air on HawkTalk regarding the AESOP quote appearing on everyone's t-shirt. Enjoy!

~Parker (ASB President) and Reid (ASB Cabinet)

Parker: Good Morning Hawks, I am Parker here with Reid Diamond from ASB, to bring you this week’s Student Council Corner.

Reid: Hi Hawks. This will just be a quick message to describe something you might be wondering about.

Parker: You may have seen ASB or student council around campus wearing these gray shirts and thought, what does that quote mean?

Reid: These shirts represent more than a marker to distinguish that we’re in student council, by wearing these shirts, we are trying to publicize a quote that we live by in ASB and hope you come to do so as well.

Parker: Aesop, a famous greek story-teller once said, “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”

Reid: This quote means that everything you do in your community has an impact, whether its helping someone study or even just saying hi in the hallways.

Parker: So when you do anything kind even if its just a smile, it could brightens someone’s day. When the quote says, “is ever wasted” it means that every deed is noticed, whether it’s by the person you are directly helping or a bystander.

Reid: So listen to this quote and understand that when Mr. Haug says, “You represent Hillview” be proud of that and reveal your amazing qualities we know you all have, to make someones day. Today try it out, you have the power to change anyone’s life.

Parker: Oh and by the way, this quote is also on your new ASB Spirit shirts, so you can not only live the quote...you can wear it whenever you’re showing off your hillview spirit.

The End of Another Trimester

The End of Another Trimester by Juliette (Olympus!)

Well, here we are Hawks, at the end of the 1st trimester in the 2013 school year. We have hopefully made new friends, formed bonds with new teachers, and made memories we will never forget. There have been dances, school projects, holidays, and ASB events. We’ve had fun times with our friends, laughs with our classmates, and we’ve sold magazines for our school fundraiser.

Is it sad that it’s almost the end of the 1st trimester? The simple answer to that is no; because yes we are ⅓ done with the school year, but the 2nd trimester brings even more opportunities. The 2nd trimester will bring more memories, more sports on the turf, more projects, and more bonds with our fellow Hawks. The 1st trimester went by fast, but we’ve cherished every moment of it, and are excited for more of Hillview Spirit.

Once we are done with one day, we go on to the next, ready for anything that comes our way; prepared to be creative, collaborative, and committed.  Selling magazines for student council, working on homework, running in PE, and taking those big tests, were all a part of the 1st trimester. The 1st trimester is coming to it’s end, as will everything else, but that definitely does not mean we will forget about those things. We will always treasure our memories and hold them close for our whole lives.

Whatever the 2nd trimester has got in store for us, we know a Hawk has got our back, so bring it on Trimester 2!

(And remember, make it a great day or not… the choice is always yours!)
