Orange Day - PTO Awareness

Two Fridays ago, we had an amazing time in the quad, with a game of musical chairs and a jelly bean count. The finest musical chair players each earned their academy a good amount of spirit points (1st place = 30, 2nd = 20, 3rd = 10). As for the jelly bean count, each winning guesser earned their academy 10 spirit points, and the closest guesser got a fabulous amount of jellybeans to eat! And even if you didn't participate in the activities, I hope you had a fun time enjoying the amazing music!

Houston Kraft

It was an absolute pleasure to host motivational speaker Houston Kraft on Tuesday, Sept. 13. Houston taught students that kindness is something that needs to be practiced constantly, whether it is greeting a person who looks alone, or standing up to someone who is oppressing others. However, he noted that these people who may come off as mean or dismissive, have experienced pain in the past, or are experiencing it now. Be there for those who are being bullied, but also be there for those who cause the bullying. Houston reminded us that fear often controls the actions of individuals, and that leadership is learning to suppress the internal fear and rise up. Houston Kraft’s final challenge for Hillview is to #makekindnessnormal and to #chooselove.
